(Español enseguida.) Incurable Océano is an interactive installation of 24 double-sided prints. One side presents a photographic image, while the other side presents one of 24 verses taken from Incurable, a poem from renowned Mexican poet David Huerta. A fan gently animates the floating images.

“Mirar es sembrar” [to see is to sow] is one of Huerta’s verses. By playing with Incurable, the installation explores the relationship between the poetic gaze and experimental street photography, as means to investigate the performative life of things. The work also attempts to blur the distinction between textual and visual poiesis, between objects of vision and viewers, between artist and audience. The public is invited to enter an ocean of floating textual and visual images, grabbing them as desired, and positioning them momentarily in a material and imaginary space. In each print, and across the visual and textual images, there are multiple resonances, transfigurations, and analogies. The participant configures an ephemeral spatial-visual-written poem.

The photographic images, intended as expressions of intimate encounters with the vastness of the ocean and our social interaction with it, have been fully composed via camera movements, as if attempting an spatial versification. Correspondingly, Incurable is a 400-page book-poem which may be read from any starting point as an ocean that reveals the inexhaustible depths of the poetic gaze. Thus, the selection of verses is also an expression of encountering the ocean. The participant, by entering the game, opens a space of co-signification.

Incurable océano es una instalación interactiva de 24 impresiones doble cara sobre lienzo de algodón para acuarela. Una cara muestra una fotografía, mientras que la otra cara lleva impreso un verso tomado del poema Incurable, del célebre poeta David Huerta. Un ventilador anima ligeramente las piezas.

“Mirar es sembrar” dice uno de los versos de Huerta. En juego con en el poema, la instalación explora las relaciones entre la mirada poética y la fotografía callejera experimental para indagar la vida en-construcción de las cosas. La instalación también busca diluir la distinción entre poiesis visual y textual, entre los objetos de la visión y los videntes, entre el artista y la audiencia. Se invita al público a entrar físicamente en un mar de imágenes flotantes, fotográficas y textuales, y sujetarlas una a una para posicionarlas momentáneamente en el espacio físico e imaginario. En cada impresión y en el conjunto de composiciones flotantes, visuales y textuales, hay múltiples resonancias, transfiguraciones y analogías. Al dar a las piezas un sentido contextual, el participante configura su propio poema espacial, visual y escrito.

Las imágenes fotográficas, entendidas como expresiones de la experiencia de encontrarse frente al vasto mar y nuestra socialización con él, han sido enteramente compuestas in-situ por medio de movimientos de cuerpo y cámara, de camino a una versificación en el espacio. Por otro lado, Incurable es un libro-poema de casi 400 páginas que, a partir de cualquier punto, puede leerse como un océano que se abre a los inagotables abismos de la mirada poética. Así, también la selección de versos es una expresión de estar frente al mar. El participante entra en el juego y abre un espacio de co-significación.
